Daniel Balaji, born as T. C. Balaji on 2nd December 1975, was an Indian actor who predominantly worked in the Tamil film industry and also in some Malayalam films. He was born in Chennai to a Kannada father and Tamil mother. He studied a film direction course in Taramani film institute, Chennai. His uncle was Kannada film director Siddalingaiah, the father of Kannada and Tamil actor Murali. His nephew is Atharvaa.
Daniel Balaji began his career as a unit production manager for Kamal Haasan’s unreleased film “Marudhanayagam”. He made his acting debut in the television serial “Chithi,” where he played a character named Daniel. His success in this role led to him being called Daniel Balaji in his next serial “Alaigal”.
His first major role was in Kaakha Kaakha as a police officer alongside Suriya1. The film, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, was about a squad of policemen fighting organized crime in Chennai. Balaji followed this up with another major role in Menon’s next film, that of the antagonist Amudhan in the blockbuster film Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. His portrayal of both these roles received praise..
Daniel Balaji died of a heart attack on 29 March 2024, at the age of 48. His sudden demise came as a huge shock to his fans and the Tamil film industry
